After 13 incredible years, our doors closed for the final time on Saturday, 30th May.

We deliberately chose to share this news afterwards — a big farewell felt out of keeping with who we are. We didn’t want a fanfare. We just wanted to pick a date, close with dignity, and let the work speak for itself.

But we did want to explain why — it felt important to say it plainly, rather than simply disappear.

The UK hospitality industry is facing challenges unlike anything we have seen before. Rising costs, relentless pressure, and a government that continues to pile further burden onto independent businesses made it increasingly difficult to operate at the level we have always held ourselves to. And that standard was non-negotiable for us. We refused to cut corners. We refused to compromise on quality. Closing at the top — with our integrity and our pride completely intact — felt like the only worthy way to honour everything we had built.

The dining world has also changed. Casual, accessible eating is having its moment, and we celebrate that. But our heart has always been in a different kind of experience — one that takes time, care, and craft to deliver properly. We would rather close on a high than drift from the heart of what made us who we are.

To every single person who walked through our doors — thank you. You were the reason we showed up every day for 13 years, and you are the reason this means so much to say.

To our extraordinary team — your talent, loyalty, and dedication have been everything. The brilliant news is that our core team are fully behind this decision and staying with us. Andy, Carol and the wider team will be channelling their energy into the Ship in Burnham-on-Crouch, the United Brethren in Chelmsford , and our event catering business Limeberry Catering Events — and all of us are genuinely excited about what lies ahead.

The space itself isn’t going quiet either. We will continue to use it as the Limeberry tasting studio and for private events throughout the rest of the year. And this is far from the end of our wider story. We are taking a well-earned breath before launching a brand new venture for the New London in spring 2027. We cannot wait to share more when the time is right.
